William Ivory is one of Nottingham’s best know screen and play writers. Passionate about the East Midlands, his writing is heavily influenced by living and working in the area where he was born and bred. Once working as a dustman on the streets, today he’s better known as one of Britain’s leading television and theatre writers. Amongst he’s well known and loved work is ‘Journey to Knock’ (1991), ‘Common as Muck’ (1994-1997) and ‘Made in Dagenham’ (2010), ‘The Great Escaper’, ,Torvill and Dean’ and ‘Burton and Taylor’. Ivory also guest lectures as a visiting screen writing tutor at Nottingham Trent University.
John Holmes, MBE, retired British TV and radio presenter worked with BBC Radio Nottingham and BBC Radio 4 presenting ‘Down Your Way’, ‘Any Questions?’ and ‘Any Answers?’ ‘Look! Hear!’ and many others. John’s decision to move to Nottingham was due to his love of theatre: Judi Dench was at the Nottingham Playhouse. ,John presented Radio Nottingham’s coverage of Queen Elizabeth II visit to Nottinghamshire and in 2017 received an MBE from Prince William, for services to charity. John has been patron of charities Family Care and Malt Cross, vice-president of Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust and chair of skin cancer charity Skcin. His autobiography is ‘This is the BBC Holmes Service : 50 years with the BBC’
